Healthy Habits: Water, WITH LEMON, please!

It's Spring and flowers are starting to come out in full bloom, trees are growing into their canopy of leaves, and birds are chirping happily. All signs of new life and fresh starts. Wish to give your body a natural boost of new life? Try adding lemon to your water. This is one simple addition that can make a big difference in the overall health of your body.

  • When mixed with warm water, it helps your stomach by relieving digestion problems, such as nausea, heartburn, and bloating. When you drink lemon water on a regular basis, your body is aided in eliminating waste more efficiently.
  • It helps your liver remove toxins/free radicals that are produced when filtering your blood because of the high level of Vitamin C (think powerful antioxidant!) found in lemons. The antioxidants help to neutralize the free radicals.
  • The removal of toxins can also help clear the skin. Along with the hydration from the water, the vitamin C from the lemon helps clear the skin and give it a healthy glow. Try to drink the water right away in the morning to start flushing out your system immediately and give you the right start to your day!
  • It helps boost your immune system. The vitamin C and potassium help to fight colds and stimulate brain and nerve function. The potassium also helps to control blood pressure.
This is just a brief summary of the benefits of lemon water, but for me, that's enough to continue drinking lemon water on a regular basis! Something so simple, yet so beneficial!

Try adding half a lemon of juice or a tablespoon to your next glass of water. Not only are you adding a burst of flavor, you are also adding a natural boost to your body!
